The Gallery of Contemporary Textile Artists

University for the Creative Arts
Curated by: Lesley Millar

Welcome to the Transition and Influence Contemporary Textile Artists Web Gallery: whether you are a collector, a museum or gallery curator, a journalist or a student, this unique resource has been created to profile contemporary textile artists from the UK and around the world. I hope you enjoy the work in the Gallery, perhaps you'll find a new piece for your collection, exhibit the work in your museum or gallery, write about a particular artist or simply find out more. Every artist has included a statement, CV and contact details. Simply click on the images to view an artist's work or go to the Directory page to find a specific artist.

NEW: over the next 12 months we will be creating video interviews with the members of the Gallery in which they describe aspects of their work. The first of these, with Beverly Ayling-Smith and Carol Quarini are now accessible from their Gallery pages... Beverley Ayling-Smith, Carol Quarini or Fiona Davies

Fiona Davies

Earlier this year we featured Fiona's work in this spot, now we are delighted to announce that she will be exhibiting Blood on Silk:Farnham at the James Hockey Gallery, University for the Creative Arts at Farnham from October 26th - December 15th 2012.

Blood on Silk is a three way collaborative project of ideas between Dr Peter Domachuk, a physicist at the University of Sydney, Dr Lee-Anne Hall a writer cultural and museum studies expert at UTS Sydney and Fiona Davies a visual artist. The single work Blood on Silk: Farnham, is a site-sensitive installation created by Australian artist Fiona Davies. In this work she will use layers of handmade silk paper both to define the structure of the gallery space and to partially conceal it.
